CPI-M’s First List of Candidates for Karnataka Assembly Elections
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has published its first list of nineteen candidates for the forthcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections.
With the CPI(M) declaring its list, the possibility of the cpi party owning an alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular) has been washed out.
The JD(S) supremo had held discussion with CPI(M) topmens Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury on owning a “secular alliance” in the state of Karnataka to defend against both the BJP and Congress.
But with the JD(S) releasing candidates for Bagepalli Manohar and Chickballapur Bachche Gowda, the probability of an alliance had strike a road block.
The CPI(M) needed some constituencies, particularly Bagepalli, from where GV Sriram Reddy is a contestant. Mr. Reddy represented Bagepalli in the year 1994 and 2004.
The CPI(M) is placing 4 candidates in district of Dakshina Kannada, 3 in Bengaluru, 2 each in Chickballapur, Kolar, & Ballari, and one each in Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Uttara Kannada, Koppal, Udupi, and Gadag.
Apart from Mr.Reddy, Karnataka Pratna Raitha Sangha leader Maruthi Manpade from Kalaburagi Rural (Reserved), DYFI State president Muneer Katipalla of Mangaluru South are amongst the 19 candidates.
